THE SHORT VERSIONAn introduction to cover designed for a defined driving period rather than a full year.
01 / THE DETAILSThe basic idea
Temporary motor insurance is a policy with specified start and end times. It can be useful for an infrequent journey in a qualifying vehicle. Conditions can differ from those in an annual policy, so compare the actual schedule, cover level and exclusions rather than only the length.
02 / THE DETAILSHow an online quote works
A vehicle registration and driver information help determine whether a particular risk is eligible. The insurer may consider age, licensing, claims history, vehicle characteristics and intended use. GreenOnMID displays a separate 10% service fee on top of its base premium.
03 / THE DETAILSWhat counts as proof?
After acceptance, the insurer’s issued certificate or confirmation identifies the vehicle, driver and period. A number-plate lookup, quote screenshot or card transaction on its own does not establish insurance. Never drive until cover is actually in force.
GOOD TO KNOWCommon questions
Is temporary insurance a substitute for annual cover?
It may suit short-term needs, but recurring use may make annual arrangements more appropriate.
Does short-term mean lower excess?
No. Check the actual terms and excess for the offered product.
